Essential Oils have been around since the beginning of civilization. Aromatherapy is using the essential oils taken from certain plants in order to give a healthy response. There are so many therapeutic uses of essential oils, so I thought I would blog about another unknown use for essential oils: household cleaning.
Mold (in home): D
iffuse Cinnamon or Oregano in rooms/ areas where mold is present * This must be professionally removed for the safety of your health
General Housecleaning: Mix 3-5 drops of Rosemary and lemon with water and squirt of dish soap in a spray bottle
Cleaning Floors: Add 5-10 drops of lemon or spruce and ¼ C vinegar to a bucket of water
Hot Tub Maintenance: Use several drops of true lavender, cinnamon, or grapefruit to disinfect/ freshen water
Stain Removal: Rub 1-2 drops of lemon oil on stains, then put in wash
Window Cleaning: Mix 10-15 drops of lemon with 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 quart water in spray bottle
Fabric Softener: Add 10 drops True Lavendar or bergamot to dampened washcloth and throw in with laundry
Air Freshener: Use diffuser in the home or office – try clove, peppermint, pur vie or limitless; also add a few drops of clove, cinnamon and orange to a simmering pan of purified water
Vacuum Freshener: Put 5 drops of spruce on a cotton ball and place in vacuum cleaner bag
Dog and pet odors: Diffuse tea tree in affected areas
Sponge/ Dishcloth freshening: Soak sponge overnight in a bowl of water mixed with a few drops of lemon
Trash can/ diaper pail Freshening: Place 1-3 drops of prosheild or pur vie on a cotton ball and place at the bottom of the can
Gum/Glue/Oil removal: Use 1-2 drops of lemon and rub affected area
Carpet deodorizer: Add 5-10 drops of lemon, or ylang ylang complete to a box of baking soda, mix and sprinkle over carpets. Let sit for an hour and then vacuum
Bathroom Refresher: Apply several drops Grapefruit or pur vie to cotton ball and place behind toilet
Travel Aid: Mix ProShield and purified water in sprsy bottle to sanitize surfaces and environment
