Non-Conventional Testing Used by Dr. Pryce

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) And Water testing

Hair tissue mineral analysis is an analytical test which can be easily and painlessly obtained without special handling instructions for a lab. Most importantly it can give an indication of mineral status and toxic metal accumulation following long term or acute exposure.

Symptoms  associated with mineral and vitamin deficiencies and/or excess as well as heavy metal toxicity:

  • Headaches
  • Allergies
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Weakness
  • Arthritis
  • High Blood Pressure

What can cause a mineral imbalance?

  • Diet
  • Stress (physical and mental)
  • Medications (prescription and over the counter)
  • Pollution
  • Nutritional Supplements (incorrect type or dosage)
  • Inherited patterns (genetics)

“Through proper interpretation, there exists a unique ability to recognize abnormal metabolic processes from trace mineral patterns found in the hair and other tissues.  With specific dietary modifications, restoration of a more normal biochemical balance can be achieved, therby eliminating many nutritionally related endocrine, neurological and even emotional disturbances.” ~ David L. Watts Ph.D.

Hormone Testing and Neurotransmitter Testing

Neurotransmitters work with receptors in the brain to influence and regulate a wide range of processes such as mental performance, emotions, pain response and energy levels. They are the brain’s chemical messengers, facilitating communication among the body’s glands, organs, and muscles. This non-invasive urinary test provides a tool to understand  specific neuroendocrine imbalances, which can be corrected with nutraceuticals, diet, and lifestyle interventions.

Symptoms associated with neurotransmitter imbalances (Neurotransmitter testing may be applicable to both males and females):

  • Mood disorders; depression, anxiety
  • Adrenal dysfunction; fatigue, insomnia (poor sleep)
  • Loss of mental focus; ADD, ADHD,  or cognitive fog
  • Addiction and dependency
  • Hormonal imbalances; E2 dominance, E2 deficiency, low androgens
  • Loss of appetite control; insulin resistance
  • Loss of appetite control
  • Compulsive behavior
  • Cravings
  • Low libido
  • Sexual dysfunction

Neurotransmitters Tested:

  • Gaba
  • Epinephrine
  • Dopamine
  • Norepinephrine
  • Serotonin
  • Glutamate

Your hormones are like your fingerprints and in order to achieve optimal health, you need to know what your specific imbalances are. There are several ways to test for hormones (saliva, serum and urine), but the state-of-the-art method is through saliva. This is because only the active portions of hormones are measured and it is these portions that determine how individuals feel. An imbalance of any one hormone can throw your physical and mental health out of balance, causing aggravating and even serious health problems.

Who should have hormone testing done:

  • Men and women concerned with changing hormone levels as a result of age.
  • Cycling women experiencing PMS symptoms, perhaps related to a hormonal imbalance.
  • Peri- and post-menopausal women concerned with their estradiol and progesterone levels for replacement considerations.
  • Those wishing to monitor their hormone levels following replacement therapy (oral, sublingual or topical), and subsequently regulate their supplement levels.

Symptoms of Hormone Imbalances:

  • fatigue,
  • insomnia
  • stress
  • immunity problems
  • blood sugar problems
  • an overweight body should be tested for cortisol levels as well as “sex” hormones.

Hormones Tested:

  • Estrogens: (estrone, estradiol and estriol)
  • Progesterone
  • Testosterone
  • DHEA
  • Cortisol

Identification of non-IgE mediated (sensitivity) reactions to foods, chemicals, telomere length and other toxins.

A true allergic reaction will normally produce ill feelings immediately such as vomiting, rashes, etc.  An intolerance to a substance is much more common, but still considered an allergy.  These type of allergies may not present symptoms right away and could take hours to days after the causative agent has been consumed. Our immune system SHOULD protect against harmful invaders or infections, unfortunately for some, exposure to COMMON foods, chemicals and molds may trigger CHRONIC activation of the immune system.

Conditions linked to chronic activation of the immune system:

    • Digestive Disorders
    • Migraines
    • Obesity
    • Chronic Fatigue
    • Aching Joints, arthritis….
    • Skin Disorders, Eczema…
    • Autism
    • ADD/ADHD
    • Asthma
    • And Many More….

Clinical significance of Telomeres

telomere is a region of repetitive nucleotide sequences at each end of a chromatid, which protects and stabilizes the end of the chromosome from deterioration or from fusion with neighboring chromosomes. They allow our cells to divide without dropping genes essential for life. They have been compared to the aglets or plastic tips found at the ends of shoelaces or the wire nuts used to protect and hold spliced electrical wires together. A shortened telomere length may be indicative of some chronic degenerative medical issue and possibly accelerated aging. Telomerase enzyme (responsible for replenishing the telomeres) does respond positively to improved dietary and lifestyle choices.  By increasing telomerase enzyme we can hasten rate of telomeres shortening and potentially extend their lifespan.

Shorter telomeres have also been linked to:

    • Cardiovascular Disease
    • some Cancers
    • Osteoporosis
    • Dementia
    • Diabetes
    • other Chronic Degenerative Diseases of Aging Conditions.

Results are easy to understand and are reported in color code with green for “safe” and organized by food groups.  Also included is a Customized 4-day rotational plan. The rotational plan helps to avoid the cumulative sensitizing effects and allows food molecules to “clear” the system, avoiding overload.

“The ONCOblot test is one of the most exciting advancements in modern cancer management The ONCOblot test is CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) certified and CAP (College of American Pathologists) accredited. It meets all Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements to be marketed as a Laboratory Developed Test. By using commonly accepted methods to separate a targeted family of cancer specific proteins called ENOX-2, MorNuCo is able to determine cancer organ site from a combination of molecular weight and isoelectric point. Drawing from a database of over 25 cancers classified as to tissue of origin, the ONCOblot not only reveals cancer presence, but the pre-metastatic site, as well. This test is both sensitive and specific and is useful in stages 0 through 4!”

The ONCOblot test provides tissue of origin based on the ENOX2 protein. The test is a yes or no answer for ENOX2 (cancer) presence. The test does not provide staging, information about metastasis or a measure of tumor size.
